Brembo copy caliper, brand new, with clips pin and pads...

Did I say it was a copy?

I threw it away in the end.

It was really nasty...

At least it would've been hidden... :coat:

I refer you to my previous post about throwing away a part...

Your exhaust was useful though...

And you wouldn’t post it...

Well I didn't have a box, it was heavy, expensive to post, didn't want to take a day off to wait for courier collection, didn't want to drive to drop it off, and all that for a tenner that nobody was even prepared to pay for. Can't have been that useful if nobody replied for 10 months.

Anyway, what was so bad about the caliper? They're pretty simple things; I can't imagine there's that much difference between a Brembo and a copy, is there?

Good brakes are important.

Yes they are. Doesn't really answer my question though.

the point was -
Brembo copy caliper, brand new, with clips pin and pads...
Would be interesting to know what was wrong other than perhaps poor quality finish?

Low grade chrome on pistons, poor machining of cylinder, ?
and no would not fit a worn or faulty part!

Biggest thing is that the Brembo has anodised aluminium pistons, the copy has plated steel. The pin arrangement didn’t have the design finesse of the Brembo. The seals had lots of flashing from the mould.

A good brake is a pleasure to behold (as anyone with one of mine overhauled P32s will hopefully agree), I just looked at this one and decided it couldn’t function as well as a Brembo.

If you need more evidence Nigel, get yourself one and compare to a P32F, it wouldn’t be hard to put a better review together than mine...
