Pash, Lightning Strike is an S1W spec bike that isn't White, done as a run out to the S1 model IIRC.

Why is this not one then?

This bike has been talked about before ( would have been just before the forum change over) , the one with the broken front engine mount bolt that was noticed in one of the pics by someone on here with go-go-gadget eyes! :o
Guess he's had it repaired now, but when i chatted about it ( was going to go have a look) he'd already turned down an offer of 3.7k, and my pockets arn't that deep! :headbang: :sad1:

I thought that was an M2... I'll go check...

Ah, I can't cos it was in the For Sale section...

Edit - Indeed it was - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123

Did I say it wasn't?

I said that it had the wrong tank for a Strike if it is fitted with the small S1/M2 tank. I can't see the heads to see if they're black or not. (But then again, a vanilla 98 S1 could be retro fitted with Thunderstorm gheads/pistons, but still it wouldn't be a Strike). Having a blue frame and a red tank doesn't mean it is a Strike, it could be a vanilla 98 S1. The blue frame may not even be original, G2's S1 has a blue frame, IIRC it had a grey frame once upon a time. I can't see enough to be defintive and at the end of the day only the VIN number tells you for sure. It's an 11 year old bike and anything could have happened to it.

Thanks O3...

I think we need someone to write Buell model histories, even Court and Co don't mention Lightning Strikes (could be wrong) in 125 years of Buell....

You're welcome. Most of what I provided to Court didn't make it to the book. I guess he has enough for a book three times that size or even bigger but you have to draw the line somewhere I guess.

Nice dodge there O3... We need story... It appears yourself and Maz hold the key...

It would be great, maybe something for AT, to have a list of the evolution of S1s (then M2s, X1s and other stuff) with the changes from year to year, colours, mechanical changes etc...

I don't mind penning something down then then you guys critique-ing it...

Believe me, after 6.5 years of running this place up to a few years ago, I need a dodge or three!

Hmmm, I'm sure when I first looked it said Lightning Strike in the description. Pash must have read it too because that's how he titled this thread. Maybe the seller edited it? I am certain I didn't dream that up.

Just read this thread and both 03 and Pash are right, the add did originally say Strike. That bike is 100% definitely not a strike and would be worth avoiding unless cheap.

Thank you, I think you're right.

Spookster, would you care to enlarge as to why?

 ,,,mine only cover 25 years :sad1:

Although the first 100 years is pretty dull, did you get the Tesco Value version rather than the full copy?
