I’m looking for a can that’s quieter than the Remus system that’s currently on my Ulysses XT. Does anyone have a standard set up (or just something quieter than the Remus) littering their garage?

I’m not sure if the headers are standard or part of a Remus system? Perhaps someone out there can confirm?

the headers look standard .
the standard cans are mild steel and tend to rust .
is there not some after market baffles for the remus ?
having two exits makes it worse , most after market are single exit
Allan "Albert666" on the forum, is APH exhausts & makes some very nice exhausts :yup:

Thanks for the heads-up on the headers :D

The can does seem to have some baffles in but I’ll have a look for some others. Actually Mrs JimRidesThis says it’s not that loud. She may be right, but the current set up is creating a feedback loop in my lid (Shoei J-Cruise) which is really quite irritating. Apart from that, I’m really loving this bike so I will get it sorted 8-) Perhaps a different lid (pure open face?) might be the simplest and cheapest cure, or possibly repacking the Remus.

I think I just need to get used to the music :D I was out on it today and it was okay so I’m warming to it. I’ve been so busy with work I haven’t had the opportunity to have a proper ride on it yet. I’ve earmarked Saturday for a trip to see my sister that’ll take me over some of the Lakes passes

Steve was tight lipped about it Don lOl. If you’re going ‘Out West’ next weekend you might get some feedback. Bear in mind he is obviously jealous though lOl. It’s a polar opposite to his ‘new’ 800GS. I don’t know where he finds them, but for the money he’s bagged a bargain!

Remus supplied two baffles, one that was come shaped, the other that looked like a... erm... baffle. With the latter the exhaust is as quiet as the standard exhaust. Maybe you should seek those baffles out...

Thanks for the info Pash. I’ll remove the baffles and see what I’ve got :yup:

I’m now sorted thanks to bones for the Remus baffles and FerrisBueller for the standard silencer (and the other Buell goodies :) ) - Cheers guys! I’ve now got options 8-) ...

Now for the final piece of the exhaust puzzle: does anyone have a surplus-to-requirements exhaust valve cable? Even a seized one I could copy/rob hardware from?

:yup:
