I've noticed my posts have a limited time out on the edit function - which is a bit of a pain if I have realised I've left typo's in the post or want to add to it.

Is this doine deliberately or is it a default function on the PhpBB software ?

Is there a good reason for having it enabled at all, as one might post something, get dragged away (as I am) and then realise the opportunity is gone when I review the threads at a later time ?

It isn't like the forum is full of bad mannered trolls or that there is a low profile of the mods to make people think they can post what they want with impunity!

Oi. Ash2.

Serious bit of advice mate.

Spend 12 months observing carefully before making such statements.

Fair comment about the trolls, but lack of ability to edit your posts is a bloody nuisance.

What a developer puts in as an option on this type of software might suit some instances, but that doesn't mean that it serves a useful purpose on others.

we all know that anyone could register and troll any forum with an initial post or subsequent retorts and without being bothered by losing the ability to edit it after 5 minutes.

From a regular members point of view, I am offering feedback to those who don't have to deal with this restriction when they post.

IMO, It would be useful to have this restriction lifted.

I agree with both sides here... but then again, it is Friday afternoon so the planks in the bridges may be rattling to the sound of corks popping even as I type. lOl

Is there an option to change the time delay, Ash? There's a few times that I've put in something with a typo not missing a salient word that I haven't spotted it for a while.

I like the idea of not being able to go back and delete everything (but then other posters can use the "quote" function to limit that) but, if the delay is only 5 minutes, that's a bit tight.
