I seldom make comment on this thread, as I find it wholly depressing and a bit mawkish.

However on this occasion and surprisingly to me, I find his death rather sad and feel a genuine empathy for his Wife and children.

He was one of the "real" ones and someone who I would have liked to think you could go out on the lash with.

Another one of the good ones gone.

Respect to the man.

As a person born in the early 1950’s, I get the general thing with respect and mourning of Prince Phillip. However, currently I find the constant hushed reverend false mawkish tones (mainly on the BBC) somewhat overbearing. The other stations (TV and radio) feel they have to follow suite or become ostracised.

Unlike other faiths, they are not going to plant the old boy for another week, even though he only has to be moved a few hundred feet, so we have much more of this to come.

I do genuinely feel for Her Majesty.

Look forward to the almost Private Eye parody by Philipa Space of “Phil The Greek I never knew” but here are a few hundred words of shite all the same.

How long before we see the arseholes coming out of the woodwork with “ I am The Duke Of Edinburgh's love child” or “The Prince fiddled with me when I was a kid”
