Mate at work sometimes commutes on his air cooled RD/TZ hybrid 350.
I remember in 78 having a Fizzie and a mate giving me a go on his 350B with microns on it
Oh those halcyon days :old:

The motor in this is an RD400E with 440 Fahron watercooled barrels, tz clutch, water pump, ignition and 36mm tz carbs.

I ran a KH250 with a 3 into 1...bought the fuckin thing from the NEC bike show, it sounded brilliant but didn't really do much for the power
NOBODY and I mean nobody with a 250, whether it was a RD, X7 or whatever could keep up with my KH!.....it may have been something to do with the 400 barrels, pistons and heads

yes most defiantly , the very narrow power band and once in that band it goes like a rat up a drain pipe ,the worlds on fast forward , as you keep feeding in the next gear. :o
and yes when you come to try and stop and roll of the throttle it just keeps going , NO engine braking what so ever  you HAVE to use the brakes :yup:

That honestly would scare me shitless. The lack of engine braking leaves no room for error - balls of steel required.

But in the olden days, that was normal. That's why we had brakes. And they didn't work when it rained.

I was behind a gaggle of old Lambretters a few months ago, not really my thing but I found myself chasing them with my window wound down trying to breath in the fumes of the castrol R they were using. Took me right back. Made my day.
