He brought life into otherwise dull TV coverage. :worthy:

He would have made a great Bond villain......or otherwise ambiguous figure in mystery movies. Not sure why we didn’t see more of him after B7! :?

Les Williams of Triumph triple fame.

https://www.tomcc.org/Home/News/4952285 ... 8b618f5f7d

I met him once during a visit to his Triumph and Legend Triple emporium to collect some spares for my brother. He was confirming to me that he could gauge a triples condition of tune by ear. A legend himself surely?

Sorry to carp on, but......l’ll never forget that day in 1988 for other reasons; my brother had his T160 bottom end rebuilt by Les (who was obviously a much younger then) but later needed a few more parts for the rebuild. As fate would have it my brother had also just acquired a used, low mileage GPz900R, but that same week he received a 2 month ban for speeding on his Trident! :headbang: for him that is! lOl
Consequently l had stop commuting on my CB250RSA to ride his Kwak and ferry him to work via pillion each day then on to my own work (what a drag that must have been for me? lOl ). It was during this ban that l was also asked to run the errand up to see Les Williams on the 900R. On the return ride down the Warwick bypass it started to rain, and then the Kwak’s gear change link behind the footrest hanger broke (a weakness of that model). Rather than walk to call a recovery (there were no phones around then) l decided to take it apart and prise it into 4th gear as l knew that would give me up to 15 mph with clutch slip an on to 115 riding in one gear. At least it stopped raining just as l put the tool kit away! It did the trip home no sweat, even cruising up to 80! 8-)

Better coverage of Ito on bikes.suzuki.uk by this iPad! He rode in 125s and 250 races, but got the TT on the 50. Another true legend. :worthy:
