Gotta give a shout out to Captain Al Haynes passed away a couple of days ago.

Brave man. 1989, United flight 232. Aircraft crippled with no control surfaces responding, ATC gave him clearance to land on any runway: In the face of almost certain death he laughed and said 'You want to be particular and make it a runway huh?'

Remember the crash footage on the news like it was yesterday. RIP Al.

God damn, one of the best record producers. Still got a few Cars Lps. Less well known for his work with Suicide the best band ever to come out of NYC.

Ramones, Bestie boys, Blondie, New York dolls, Anthrax (and many more) ALL came from NYC and they have at least been heard of
Shame about Ric

Not to everyone's tastes unfortunately. Groundbreaking band in 1977 as were the New York Dolls & The Beastie Boys. Suicide spawned several generations of new bands, but if you don't like them you won't like the one's they spawned either I guess.

I'm amazed he lasted this long, given the amount of illicit drugs he consumed during the 60s and 70s. Unless they were preservatives :hehe:

I only saw Ginger play once....when he did a brief spell with Hawkwind. He wasn’t brilliant then, but he drew a crowd. ;) I read in the history that he was a disruptive element who stirred up other characters so eventually Dave Brock told him to leave (maybe not so politely lOl ).

I also read that he once ran a truck company in the Sahara! :? Or maybe that was in ‘The News of the World’? lOl
