Not to be flippant about anyone's death, but I am sick of reading about someone who "passed", rather than 'passed away', generally croaked, or "passed to the other side". Simply "passed". It seems a very recent affectation - irritates me no end.

'Passing' should be reserved for over-taking cars, or the elimination marbles that you're dog swallowed - when the vet asks. Or anyone else asks, if they are that weird to be interested in your dogs bowels and his eating accidents.

It is probably just me...

No, not just you, I prefer people when they are just plain old dead. :yup:

I remember getting the call at 5.00am from the nursing station in the care home where my Dad was. Now I know my brain is wired differently and at that time of day it is even more deranged. She said, and I quote, "your Dad has just passed". My immediate reaction was why the #uck are you ringing to tell me he has just passed you ya daft cow. It took a few seconds while I computed it was either a miracle, his wheelchair was out of control, or he was in fact dead :sad1:

Yes l agree that is a misleading term. No disrespect to anyone who has lost someone dear to them recently or who deal with their sentiments differently, but l prefer to consider it as passing on or over to another dimension. And no l do not think that we arrive bodily in some happy valley with fruit provided on picnic tables like the Eloy and as on the leaflets sometimes handed out by people claiming to be witness. I do have good reason to think that we go on if only for a limited period as some form of electromagnetic or quantum particle information until dispersing into more diffuse forms. Some do not. That is what ghosts as perceived by some people may be. Obviously this may become quite pertinent to our current crisis, but try to relax and chill if you can whilst exercising care, it’s just the natural world doing it’s thing. :worthy:
