What a man he was 8-) Never met him but he was a friend of the shop - Greenham Kawasaki - where I've been working part time recently. Achieved a lot of high octane stuff in his relatively short life

I know nothing about Amps and noise making other than Buell exhausts, but my nephew does. He posted this today which may be of interest to musical types. hhe plays in a Foo Fighters tribute band....
"Newsfeed is filled with EVH posts and rightly so.
I’d just like to add to another reason why he was so important and still is. (Yes I am a little bit of a gear nerd)
Beyond the game changing playing, Eddie was the man behind the Peavey 5150 amplifier which came out in the very early 90s which led to the 5150II and later the 6505 and 6505+ (and the new inventive is based upon it). He moved the 5150 name to his own EVH amps and which were built under Fender. These have had multiple revisions and are still being developed.
These amps have been used at the forefront of hard rock and metal since they were released and to this day are can be seen on stages and heard on new albums. The sound has been emulated numerous times and is one the blueprints for modern amps. I have owned several variants including the Bugera which is a replica of a 5150 and still use my 6505+ for Foo Forgers as it is the amp Pat Smear used for most of his career.
While Eddie maybe most well known for those classic rock tunes his influence and tone is the sound of most modern metal bands and has been for the last few decades.
RIP EVH "

2 in 1 day that gave me lasting memories. Who will be the 3rd?

Only time I saw VH live was at Donnington's MoR in 84 with Motley Crue, Y & T, Accept, Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne and AC/DC. A little hard to see where we were but turned out to be more about the socializing than the music, something I didn't expect.
