Greta will be delighted. For the very many owners who cover a few hundred miles a year or even less, a flat rate will be massively punitive. Given the UK's national CO2 emissions from all sources are 1% or less of global emissions, how will this have any effect at all on the climate?

Conclusion - It won't. It's yet another back door tax increase imposed under the veil of the green agenda.

Missed that sneaky one thank you. We need to spread the word as we can collectively make a change

So they want to price me out of something I have done all my life.
My bikes are closer to me than my family and they want me to stop using them, so if that is the way they want it, then there is only one true option open.....Get the eye in, get the rifles and ammo and make them watch as you kill their loved ones first, after all it is what they want to do to me, I see no difference.

OK people, I know in the bigger picture this is not a life or death issue, however, it is not a time for complacency.

I would urge you to respond to the document either by their link ETTAnswers@hmtreasury.gov.uk and/or contacting your MP.

If it helps as a basis to copy, here is my email to our MP:

Dear

I trust that you and your family are keeping well in what are extraordinary times.

I appreciate there are more important issues to be currently considered, however, there is a relatively minor one that I feel strongly about, and would be grateful for your support, if you feel able, before the deadline of 3rd June.

In the recent budget, a Vehicle Excise Duty call for evidence document was published. In this, Chapter 4, 4.1 and 4.2 considers scope for charging VED on motorcycles based on emissions. In the greater picture of climate change, the impact of our machines is miniscule, particularly as they are mainly used for leisure and feel that this is an insidious form of taxation.

In contrast, The Isle Of Man Department for Infrastructure have very recently proposed implementing an annual flat rate of tax for motorcycles of £25.00, with no additional basis of their carbon emissions.
Whilst I intend responding to the call for evidence at ETTAnswers@hmtreasury.gov.uk your intervention on this matter would also be appreciated.

Kind regards,
