Not exactly Max. I have watched a number of incidents where US cops appear to lash out excessively when being jibed. Our police can be just as aggressive when required, but are trained to be very polite about it! ......and to check if you can breathe! Maybe l am lucky and haven’t crossed paths with bad cops here. Had quite a bit of BS from them in recent years like many of us but nothing violent.

Ironically, in 1987, I met and spoke to the Liverpool police who it transpired were going to smash the travellers peace convoy in Wiltshire later that day. Obviously l would have said something stronger had l known.

Keeping a low profile with the British Police is always a good idea, put yourself in the frame & you'll get exactly what's coming to you for doing that, which unfortunately is dependent totally on mood & nature, type of day they've had & lots other variables surrounding said Police officers.
Always play safe just stay polite & make sure I don't call them ociffer. :yup:
Chat back or be cocky at your peril. :old:
All the best JB.

:yt: l was stopped one night near the new year when my Clio threw a wobbly and blew two bulbs one front one back and brake lights half AWOL. The officers were very good natured about it (breathalised as is routine), but l was also equally good natured so they let me continue home (l was only half a mile away in street lit areas) with a promise to get it fixed pronto. ;)

Confluence.
People want to be part of something, for some anything will do, especially a cause.
Remember that carry on with Diana?
Makes me puke. JB

This whole protest thing is getting out of hand. I don’t see how tearing down public monuments including a statue of Winston Churchill will solve anything.

I guess that makes me a racist bastard!

Unfortunately its nature to look after one’s own first (nature or nurture?)
When you think back ….it’s over a hundred years ago that Emmeline Pankhurst's organised the suffragette march’s for equality .
50 years ago parliament passed the equal pay act to prevent discrimination
And yet things still happen.
If as society we cannot truly treat our own women as equals, then it doesn’t bode well for outsiders of whatever colour, race, religion, for some time to come

The USA is unique in how it has treated black people historically and it has a very long history of ensuring that the abolition of slavery did not free the majority of black people, they just made them slaves to the different white mans system for many decades. The blacks did not and in my opinion still do not have freedom, as racism is congenital in so many, I don`t mean they are born with it, but it is instilled in them by their parents/carers.

I have witnessed the Police brutality for myself when I was patrolling with the Police in the late 90`s and it made me feel uncomfortable in so many ways.....It was this that prompted me to find out for myself why such hostility existed....I am not saying I am right, just what I found out all pointed in the direction of blacks being unjustly excluded from so many parts of society, usually by finance and education, this is how they have been controlled by the whites.

I understand why the black people are protesting, but I don`t understand what it is they want, as laws have been changed and new ones created to make it a fairer society, however dumb people will always fuck it up for the rest and I believe that is what we are seeing now from both black and white.

As for protesting in the UK......Just what the fuck do they want from the UK Govt? That we erase our history to suit the fact that some cannot differentiate between then and now? Again, dumb fuckers fucking it all up for the rest of us, why do we always have to fall to the lowest common denominator?

I don`t give a fuck what colour you are or what gender you are, but if you are stupid, then I will ignore you or kill you, whichever one is easiest at the time.

I'm not sure that we can ever change our history. It is what it is.
Pulling down statues or whatever else people want to do isn't going to change it, and isn't it oppressive for anyone else to try to deny your own history whether you agree with what was done or not. It's history for Gods sake. I didn't agree with the oppression of the Hebrews but I'm not about to go rip down the pyramids because of it.
Get over it, it's the past whatever it was & whether you liked it or not.
The future's where it's at.
Views expressed here do not represent the site blah di blah, etc etc.
All the best JB

Very well put. We’ve just had an argument here whilst trying to explain that same issue to the youth of today.
