That is very interesting especially as I live less than 5 miles from the island, OK some of it is a bit wet but very easy to get to 😁

 Great news!... but I honestly can't see it happening. IoW road surfaces are notoriously awful so they'd best crack on with resurfacing the roads they intend to use, and get a wiggle on before the 'main straight' slides off the cliff... or is there a beach race planned too? lOl

I hope it comes to pass but, remember the Welsh road race a couple of years ago?

I hope it does too, and I'm mightily impressed they've got to the point of making a press release about it, because such ideas never normally get beyond the "Wouldn't it be great..." stage of drunken discussions over a curry after 6 pints of Cobra, let alone get outline planning permission from the Council suits.
But I imagine the greatest hurdle will not be the potholes, fissures or ripples, rather it will be all the local NIMBYs who won't want to waive their right to bimble down to Co-OP in their Hyundais to get a pint of milk on race day.
Where road races exist it's only because they've 'always' existed there.. think IoM, NI, Monaco... I mean, can you imagine instigating any of those in this day and age?

I think with covid and many jobs hanging on by a thread, and for some time to come, they will be selling it to the locals, that it will bring in millions to the local economy . just look at monaco and the IOM. :yup:

Shame it wasn’t a complete lap of the island like IOM. That could be a big money spinner with the right promotion, but then there would also be a great deal of opposition......unless it promised to pay for a full resurface over time! ;)

I lapped the island in 1987 cruising around it on my TR1.......in about 45 minutes l think! lOl

Yep, sums it up adequately
All wind and piss I'll wager, you can't hold a Sunday school picnic these days without a council meeting

:yt: ....and part of the course will be declared a SSSI by The Environment Agency or an AOONB by Natural England, and the noise of the bikes would scare away a rare breed of glow worm, slow worm or newt!
