Sorry mate, just didn't want the population to get the wrong idea :shut:

Well they did, once upon a time, eat one another during the tribal wars where the strongest survived...although that part is not spoken about these days. (even though the strongest survived during the NZ land wars)

More is voiced about the evil crown who came over and swindled their land and won't give it back...but yet little is talked about the amount the 'evil' crown has paid out to the tribes for them to squander or payout for maori business ventures or maori scholarships :oooops:

Points of interest:

*The money (100s of millions) does not come from the crown, it comes from the NZ taxpayer.
*There are no scholarships or business venture payouts for non-maori citizens. (#powderkeg)

But i'll stop there. :ill:

Just a quick update, after the advice from Maz I've gone for an 2002 X1 but because it's so bloody far away I won't have it until 9th November but I'll post some pictures once it arrives.

Did you buy the one from Nottingham that was on eBay? The bike I've gone for has had a full ground up rebuild 400 miles ago, all photographed & documented but I did have the issue of getting it to Liverpool. Luckily the seller is a really nice bloke and has been very helpful, he's bringing it over on the ferry and the bike transport people are meeting him and delivering it the following day ( fingers crossed ).

Haha I wish! No I was in discussion with the seller and at the time thought that the distance and costs on top of the price could scupper the deal. I asked the eBay seller a few questions and he was a little vague so I decided to carry on negotiation for the IOW bike. But as you say only time will tell ( for both of us). Have you collected yours now? And if so how do you like it?

I have collected it today. Went from tenby pembrokeshire to scotland to collect horse box for wife,
the deal included collecting bike on way back, for better or worse!
hire car on Friday after lunch, travel to Aberdeen (travel lodge).
Saturday collect and pay for lorry - down to Nottingham, stop in lorry overnight, picked up bike this morning and back home.
1119 miles.
knackered and barmy!
Bike is as described needs work.
Oil pump being my biggest concern.
Seller nice chap knows bike needs work, as with buying any machine nothing can be guaranteed.
I always consider Ebay sales have to be as described, otherwise I will leave them there and accept the cost of travelling as an out of pocket expense.
I will up date as the job progresses.

Why the concern over the oil pump, hasn't the engine just had a rebuild? That's certainly some weekend you've had! I wish my bike had your wheels, personally I think they look so much nicer than the 3 spoke ones. Obviously more to polish but much more American looking. Enjoy the bike once you've caught your breath and keep me posted.

I lack confidence in other unknown fitters work.
that is why Maz is so well thought of.
two very important things -

Right I've got you now, I have read up on the oil drive gear issue and will also need to have it checked and if it is the standard item replaced with the bronze version. I have already mentioned to Maz about getting it booked in for a medical after I take delivery. Did you have a chance to try it up the road today?
