Hi guys, just bought myself an old tatty S1W that needs a lot of love and money throwing at it , I had one around 15 years ago and sold it and a good few other bikes when I moved house .
It will join my RD400 and 350LC's in my small compact garage, I do all the work on the RD's myself but I never had to touch the last Buell so I will probably need help with basic maintenance and the obvious gormless questions I'll be asking.

Never seen one this colour before and I do like it but it's just a bit ratty , my old S1W was all white so I fitted a pair of PM wheels to break it up, it also had a mikuni like this bike but it had a different filter.
So silly question number one , do you take that sock thing off the filter when riding it ?

Looks like the fuel injected filter.

Is this filter not suitable for a mikuni carb ? I took the bike out for a short blast today and it was awful below 2-3k and then ran good , I thought it was just the pilot jet or mixture that might need looking at .

You have an s1w with a rainbow option ,when it was picked you could mix and match colour schemes frame , wheels ,body work , quite rare ,and a good choice of Buell ,are you going to return it to standard look . And welcome back. :yup:

Ideally I would like to just use it this year and then start a restoration over the winter but it's not going back to standard it will stay more or less as it is just a hell of a lot cleaner .
I do like some of the mods like the swinging arm, rear sets and mikuni but the exhaust is too load , its needs new lights and indicators and maybe a more comfy seat, the colours will be staying the same.
