Hello everybody,

My name’s Jim, I’m from northern Cumbria just a few miles from the border with Scotland and this time tomorrow an XB12XT should be in my garage!

I’ve never owned a Buell before but I have a track record of 40 years (!) of bikes :old: and I do all of my own spannering. I currently have an ‘85 Honda XL600R in bits on the bench, but my primary ride is an ‘04 Yam TDM900. I prefer riding on my own or with a couple of mates rather than in larger groups and most of my riding is touring orientated, I’m just back from a few days on the west coast of Scotland :D

The forum has already proved useful in the brief time I’ve been lurking , but no doubt I’ll be asking some newbie questions shortly (and, yes, I’ll be using the search facility first!). In the meantime I’m looking forward to the Buell experience 8-)

Hi Jim,
Welcome to the Buell Enthusiast Forum. (Hope I go that right)
You will be very welcome here, lots of information available from some very knowledgeable people who own the same bike or have lots of Buell experience.
Stick a pic of your bike on when you get it please, always nice to see another Buell.
You take care now. Paul.

Now then BIG D - yep, I haven’t broken cover on ADVScotland yet. I got the bike home tonight - it needs a good clean, front pads and a precautionary belt change - then I’ll have to take some pics for SteveT :D

Jim,

If you are changing the belt take the advise of these guys here and check or change the wheel bearings too, a few good pics will show what if any other mods may be advisable.

If you are changing the belt, keep the old, intact one as a spare, it may get you out of trouble one day. :yup:

Great advice.

Do your wheel bearings too.

All the best Paul

Cheer guys, I forgot to mention, I already have a set of ‘precautionary’ wheel bearings for both ends.

Hi Jim, South Cumbria resident, Annanite in exile! If you had this way give me a shout. We're off to see the Hartside ruin tomorrow!

I was down at Bootle today visiting my sister... on the TDM though :D . I set off on the Buell but didn’t make it out of town before it was missing, backfiring and cutting out :? Rode it back home and took the Yam instead 8-)

My ‘Buell experience’ is obviously starting in the garage 8-) I want to have a good poke around it anyway, and do the belt change, wheel bearings, front pads, etc.

Currently, I’m feeling mentally prepared for the task ahead. :rotfl:
