Thankfully no other damage to the engine, I missed a gear and over revved.
First run I took it easy, the second I may or may not have turned the bottle on :oooops: 3rd one I gave it the beans and broke it,
That's racing I suppose

That's a real shame.
Looking on the brighter side, the valve didn't drop.
Sorry it didn't go well after all your work.
I hope the rebuild goes ok.

Well things went from bad to worse, I fitted the new clutch which works good but you need a left forearm like Garth, unfortunately ( I use this word a lot) I missed that pesky gear again while on the gas, this time I trashed both exhaust valves, guides and pushrods, thankfully I have that spare engine which the heads came off and are now on my M2, I also had a set of Andrews valve springs which I fitted after giving the valves a good lapping, I finished rebuilding the motor tonight and fired it up ...... :) I've also repositioned the pneumatic cylinder on the gear shift lever which should hopefully make the changes more positive.
Back down to the Pod next weekend to try again.
I may lay off the NOS button till I've put a few runs in

When I started this RWYB drag racing I was warned by a work colleague who did a bit of sidecar racing that it was a slippery slope and the further I got into it the more expensive it would become, also as the more and more I modified my bike the less likely it would be that I would ever put it back on the road, I have to say that most of that advice has come to pass.
I have kept all of the original parts ( and more) just in case,
As the years have gone on I find riding on the road more of a pain than pleasure probably due to the fact I commute quite often on my SV650, also here in the northwest there although we have some nice roads they are littered with scammeras mobile checks and thousands of lunatics who's sole purpose is to try and kill you,
On the other hand the rush of adrenaline when I'm sat on the startline of the dragstrip is amazing, sure it's a if a downer when it goes wrong but as been mentioned in another thread, if a human being put it together another one can repair it, at the end of the day it's only time and money and while I'm able to do it I will.
Lately I've lost a very dear friend who was a few years younger than me and that made me wake up to my own mortality.
So basically what I'm saying is if there's something YOU enjoy get out and do it you never know what's around the corner :yup:

Currently sat in my van sheltering from the howling wind and driving rain :( feels like the eye of the storm is right upon us
Fingers crossed it's going to clear before lunch time and the track crew manage to clear the water and make the surface safe to run on 🤞🏻
Last chance this year to make a decent time, as I'm typing this a strip of blue sky has appeared on the horizon, still feels like I'm in Kansas though ;)
