For the fourth consecutive year we will be hosting UKBEG's Birthday BBQ at Black Bear in Newmarket on Easter Saturday 7 April.

Showroom open as usual from 0900-1730, burgers provided by us being cooked and served by CJ and JJ from 1100-1500 or sooner if you're really greedy. :o A "Best Buell" competition with trophies to be awarded at 1600. Hopefully we will still have a limited amount of clothing still available for sale. Good opportunity for those travelling from afar to have service work performed while they are there. Book early if you want to do this by calling George or Andy on 01638 664455.

In the evening I have arranged camping at a local hostelry where we can all party together and show some British hospitality to our friends from Holland who are coming over for the weekend. The Cherry Tree at Soham http://www.cherrytree-soham.co.uk is 8 miles from the showroom - a ten minute ride. It's a reasonable pub with a big field at the back and they're used to hosting biker events. :D

Obviously beer and food readily available, ample space for camping and they would make no charge for this......only stipulation is that we don't bring our own booze......fair's fair :) They don't have outside toilets so I'll order a portaloo to spare the dignity of those who don't want to pee in hedges. Didn't check with them about breakfast but, if they're not able to cater for us, I can organise a catering wagon to show up early on Sunday morning.

On Sunday the party moves to the Ace Cafe. Early breakfast at the Cherry Tree, take tents down and load bikes up. Leave around 1000. Half hour ride to Travelodge where CJ and Woody are staying. From there a ride via country roads to the outskirts of London then round the North Circular to the Ace Cafe. Should arrive there around 1130. Their website http://www.ace-cafe-london.comcurrently shows this as a "BSA, Norton and Classic Bike Day."

The following day, Easter Monday, is the Ace Cafe Southend Shakedown Run for those who want to really overload. Run is scheduled to leave the cafe at 1030.

Have had a good response from a few of you already about the camping so it's a goer :yup: Obviously we have experienced varied weather on the Easter weekend over the past few years. Anything from snow to hot sunshine. Feeling good about sunshine this year though :sun:

Only eight weeks to go.....let's party

Steve

Thanks, Steve, it makes the event details easier to follow with a new topic.

Woody's last post from the old topic:

Stay lucky Woody..

Wow, you guys are putting in some effort for us! We are coming over with 7 guys and 1 female, so behave!
We are still looking for a cheap hotel, found out that you guys are camping, but it's a bit of a hassle to bring a tent and sleeping-bag abroad.
I will try the Travelodge later on.

Looking forward to it! Greetzz from the cloggies!

Hey guys,

We found a place nearby in Newmarket, called the Premier Inn. Blooody cheap too. That will leave us plenty of money for a taxi to get driven between the drinking events.

I have been writing to the Ace Cafe as well, and they are expecting us!

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your email and great to learn of your forthcoming visit. Noting that you plan to attend the cafe on Sunday 8th April, I write to advise that whilst all are welcome to attend the cafe at any time, on this day the cafe is holding a BSA, Norton & Classic Bike Day (please see calendar of events of our website) such that dependent on the turnout, we shall endeavour to hold some space in the cafe's car park for your visit. With a view to forward planning, it would be most helpful if you were able to advise of your estimated time of arrival at the cafe.

You may also be interested to note that hitherto, and for many years, the cafe has hosted a Harley & Buell Bash in August, this year being Sunday 26th August.

Kind Regards
