I'm thinking of getting a Uly to ride in the coming winter, to supplement the M2 which is for summer use. Any ideas about what I should look out for on Uly? Best/worst year? As I live in out in the sticks, any opinions as to how the belt will cope with muddy roads? Thanks |

I live down a 1/2 mile dirt track. Never had an issue with a belt. However, I got a stone through a belt in John O'Groats car park! |

Got in a bar tussle one night (outnumbered and lucky to leave knifehole free) and food poisoned for days after that in Inverness...So I headed south when I could stand up again swearing to never go up that far again. |

I hope the better informed will chip in to correct me if needed, the highlights between pre 08 & 08+; (a big one for me) A much less frequent TPS regime, If its the X your after(I guess so, if dirt tacks are the thought, XT is more road than dirt) then post 08 bikes were made more off road friendly by having larger diameter forks (47 instead of 43mm I thinnk) and the headstock was pushed forward to improve the turning circle. There are other diferences, but the TPS thing was enough for me to go newer. |
