Looks like one of the forks on my Hyper is leaking - would I be correct in thinking I should get them both done at the same time. In my head it makes sense to change seals and oil at the same time - but what do I know ;)

Ta.

Definitely Clive. The other one won't be far behind and new oil in both legs is a no brainer

Cheers, Dave. Just thought I'd check given my level of mechanical incompetence :D

There was a nasty rumour going around that copper wire was invented by 2 Scotsmen fighting over a penny ;)
I think it's true.......

As my lovely wife frequently says - ‘there’s nowt as tight as an Englishman in Scotland’ :D

Bloody Ducati Glasgow do well out of me. But I guess it’s far cheaper than a new bike - the Hyper has done over 70k now and there’s not much about that I like to replace it. Maybe a KTM 690 or the new 790? The wee 390 is making me smile at the moment :yup:

We’ll see how’s the Hyper gets on during the Europe tour in June...

Unles the steering head bearings have been sorted in the last 20k miles, you might as well get them sorted at the same time. It'll save dropping the forks twice ;)

Is that going to significantly increase work time, Adam?

The forks are already out of the yokes, so undo the pinch bolt on the top and undo the nut on top of the stem and it's apart, exposing the bearings to be either replaced or regreased. About 1/2 hour tops, if they don't stop for a fag/brew. The bearings don't always feel notchy even if they are feked, because it happens slowly, people often ride around the problem and only realise how much better the bike handles when it's fixed. A bit like feeling when you fit new tyres lOl If they've not been changed in 70k miles, it's time to give it a bit of love 8-)

Don't you have a good Indy Ducati place up near you, instead of an official dealer? There's one in N.Wales that Garry took his Monkeystrada to and had belts, valves, fluids etc and a new back tyre for less that £500 if iirc.

Ta.

IF it is just a slight weep it is surprising how often using one of these can cure it http://sealmate.net/ all it is is a piece of hard plastic and it cleans any dirt or grit that might be stopping the seal working ;) worth a try and it might even save you getting your wallet out at all if you make one yourself ;)

The off road boys use film negative for this down our way. I've never tried it, but with off road bikes you'd be changing seals all the time lOl I think Clive should give his bike some love lOl
