It is the dogs bollox as far as I'm concerned, there are very few bikes that stand out like Buells as very, very, different. People who haven't experienced the thrill of riding one can F**k right off.

This is more than likely the reason they don't speak 😄

Maybe you're being paranoid :?: It could just be that nobody likes you :P

I'm definitely not paranoid (I know what that is) and to be honest, I'm fine with people not liking me as a person, but I feel sorry that the Buell just seems to be "Missed" or "ignored" excepting by the one other Buell owner I met. It was such a refief to talk to someone in the flesh who spoke Buell without saying it out of the side of their mouth with an eyebrow raised.

Look at it another way ...
not everyone " gets Buell " but why worry , i like being part of a smaller group
we were never mainstream , if you want something common
just buy a Japanese inline four sportsbike. ;) lOl

You get this shunned effect in other areas:

Cycling - recumbents are a development of the 'normal' upright bicycles. Less wind resistance, faster etc.
They won't let them enter races though.

Sailing - I sail a catamaran. Its a multihull and better for many reasons. 'Normal' boats only have one hull. They all sit in the clubhouse telling me how I will capsize and die if a cloud even looks at me. Handicapped out of any competitiveness in races (finished first awarded last place).

In each case I think it is the fear of the outsider that is causing the negative attitude and blocking progress.

This Buell versus 'normal' motorbikes feels like the same thing to me - very attractive!

Recumbent bikes are better, they were raced but banned by the UCI as they were so much quicker. The biggest reason behind the ban (allegedly) was due to all race teams going across to recumbents and upright bicycle development would grind to a halt and their sales dwindle away as occasional/recreational cyclists would not want recumbent bikes! :)
