What I'm doing is buying what I can afford & will do the job adequately for my A/B road riding like I already said.
I also think that making out my life depends on the cheap steering damper may be a little melodramatic to be perfectly honest and having a cheap one in place is definitely better than not having one at all. Believe it or not, I will also be using stainless bolts to hold it in place. Now that is living on the edge.

All the best folks.

if it snaps off one end ,then extends through your headstock...
good luck .
I was only trying to stop you killing yourself .
do as you will :sad1:

Yeah,

And if my wheel breaks or my forks snap or my brakes fail or I have a blow out or if, if, if, if F****n' if.

Listen, I know this may sound a little cavalier to some of you, but if I worried about every "if or what" that may or may not occur, I really wouldn't be riding a F***n' Buell 1125r at 61.

Cheap isn't always shit and expensive isn't always excellent.

But thanks for the heads up, I appreciate your concern.

I didn't think about this way. Still under £30.

Thanks Nutah.

Hi Folks,

Plumped for a 2nd hand Suzuki Hyabusa 1300 gen 2 steering damper for £20.00 to use on my 1125r.
I'm guessing that should be fairly adequate.
I'm having to fabricate a bracket out of some 10mm alloy plate I have in the garage to mount it as yet but will post pics as soon as I get round to it.
Some people seem to think Buells don't need a steering damper but my 1125r tends to wriggle the yokes a little when the front wheel is skipping under acceleration. (I'm pretty sure every 1125 rider has felt this). This can be pretty disconcerting at speed or if the road drops out after a rise.
Hopefully the Steering damper will handle this, bearing in mind I still have the fork oil to change + the front tyre, all of which will be a bonus for handling.

The main thing now is my 1125r's running so much better that I don't need to focus as much on riding a flippin' awful lumpy son of a bitch bike, I can again focus my attention on the handling.
Hopefully I'll get it as good as I got my Firebolt XB9, that was a really great handling bike after about 3 months of fiddling.

Watch this space.

Cheap Chinese "knock offs" are easily spotted as they usually have spelling mistakes! lOl
It's Hayabusa FYI ;)

"Cheap & adequate" is how it's really spelled.

Hi Folks,

£20.00 Steering Damper from a Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 off Ebay.

£9.00 Alloy clamp from China.

Just got to fabricate a fixing to make it all work on my 1125r.
So just to re-cap, that's £30 quid in all instead of £350 for a specific Bitubo damper or more for an Ohlins one. Should work fine when it's fitted. I'll keep you informed.

All the best Paul.
