Went out in extreme heat today around town, bike cut out with fan running and wouldn’t start for about 10 mins.was this the e.c.u saying no more too hot?

Had that with a car many years ago, threw up dozens of fault codes until the temperature dropped again. It was in a very hot country, Perth, Scotland :o

Yes I’m from the tropical Belfast originally so I know all about that kind of weather 😂

sounds plausible , have you tried reading the stored/historical fault codes ?

Doesn't the ECM do something different during overheat? Sure I've heard someone say it skips a spark to reduce heat and use fuel to help cool or something similar??

Try to go out for a ride next week when it's cooler and see if it still gut's out or not.

My 09 XT has cut out a couple of times on very hot days when stuck in traffic but restarted after letting it cool down for a few minutes. I avoid using it now if very warm like the last few days and take the Guzzi out instead.

Try moving the air sensor into cold free flowing air & cover the bottom of the air box with foil.
This made a hell of a difference on my 1125r. Especially to hot running. I also covered the rear of the sensor with silver foil to stop any radiated heat from effecting it.
Just a suggestion.
All the best Paul.

My Ecu in the car was under the bonnet in a sealed compartment which probably saw temps over 40 degc after sitting in the sun. Once it had cooled down it was fine
