Well all , I got t-boned off the bike on the 3rd july , at about 35mph , and the x1 went down on left side. 11 years I have had her, lasted longer than my marriage , and never threw me off (unlike the ex)! The gear linkage is all fooked and there are generally scuffs and scrapes but bars dont look bent or forks. Will need a new clutch casing as it peed out oil through the clutch cable orifice.

Should I buy it back or not as the insurance has written it off? should I buy it back and breaks for spares?

Still waiting for their buy back price.

Some thoughts please - 2001 white , nuclear blue frame, wheels do polish up well when done. 21800 miles.

fingers crossed , don't let them fob you off :yup: :sun:

maybe because oil leaked from the clutch they think the engine is fucked
or it may be that new parts are "unavailable" , insurance is a weird game :headbang:
but you can repair it using used parts etc.

plus as it's an X1 in the best colour scheme (OK I'm biased)
so save it is an order, from the "Tuber Gods" :sun:

I would give you a fare price for it or just the engine.

You haven't mentioned if you were hurt, hopefully not; which is the main thing.
You obviously have a strong bond with the bike and if only relatively lightly damaged you'd probably sort it with bits from on here. Buy it back and if you ever get fed up sorting it you'd likely still get your money back I'd think.

Got a fractured wrist and elbow thanks, not bad for a 35 mph side impact, very bruised and scuffed, I took the majority of the impact i think it will fix up as well. just worried about gearbox damage as the input shaft where the selector goes in looked slightly bent , but I am no expert. Will post up photos.

x1 cassette gearbox so quick and easy to strip
unlike XB's full engine strip
