Maybe, but it allows others who might be reading to avoid my mistakes! ;) If there is another detrimental cost to the forum let me know!

Not seen that play yet! :? Apologies to our oriental friends, but to my uncultured ears most of it appears to consist of high pitched singing intermingled with frequent sounds like; “.....tish, tish, tish, boing, boing!....” lOl

I must admit, pictures would be most useful. I've cut several of these tails down over the years, and specified on the Forum somewhere, the colour match in Halfords rattle cans. However, I really have a lot of difficulty following your essays on the subject.

Oh! Sorry l’ve been using you all to practice my tech memo writing skills or lack of on! lOl But seriously, l cannot post pictures, have no PC or any device that l have been able to work over the years. Even my accounts with photoshop/bucket have failed, or l would have. I am reduced to borrowing this flakey old iPad from a friend

But take my word for it, my tail chop is even better shaped than Superbikejay’s.......well l did take more time! Hopefully l can see you all with it still attached someday! ;)

Photophuckit is shit. Just pony up for a Smugmug account. Easy to use, no ads, lots of space and customizable if you're that type.

To conclude.....until a picture can be posted....anyone who has removed the stop/tail light lens from their Lightning XB will have noticed the redundant. clear lens panel on the underside, which is blocked off by the cast tail housing. :|

It’s as if Erik Biuell had planned for a short upswept tail unit in production utilising this clear lens to illuminate the licence plate, but the Legal eagles made him put an extended plate holder into the final casting design. lLight units were already ordered and expensive tooling paid for? :?

Erik’s legacy to us was a bike just asking to be modified back to the stylist’s original sketches??? A number of tail tidy kits leave a cut out under the lens for this purpose. ;) Maybe when l can afford a trick plate holder l will investigate using this feature as well. 8-)

I can’t see from the pictures, but maybe the Firebolt utilises this extra lens?? ;) Same applies!

Correction to senile moment! :old: Firebolt came first and stop tail light unit IS a Firebolt unit. The light mounting appears to be moulded into the bodywork.

Can’t tell if l could adapt a Firebolt plate holder until l have a discarded one to measure and chop. :?
