Hi all,

I live in jersey...used to have an XB12 before it shook itself to bits. Now looking for an XB9 in he south if possible to reduce shipping costs.

Any XB9’s for sale?

Thank you in advance

Keith

You'd be better off long term looking for a tuber

Why would you say that? Having had both I had more fun on the XB’s - and they always started first stab too :yup:

The 1190 is the bike the XB12 should have been and a smaller Rotax engine in the XB frame would have been interesting too. Note - I have no idea if it would fit.

Having said that the X1 is pretty good too :yup:

Also - Don’t know who does the smilies but could we have some more? A thinking one would be useful :yup: I’m sure there’s more that would be useful for those of us that use them instead of words :D

Tubers are infinitely rebuildable, unlike the xb series, also a lot more pleasing on the "engineering eye" in my humble opinion.

Yes XB9s are the biz, but the best way to get a 9 is to buy it new, run it in religiously, then warm it up steadily on every ride dogmatically. :tw: be smooth and don't lug it below 2500 :4roz: , but only rev to 5500 max when warm :ill: and only do long runs in dry weather! :sun: When the driveside main and clutch bearing fail get Maz to rebuild it :askmaz:. Then modify the exhaust to centre all the torque between 3800 and 5200 so you don't ever want or need to rev it. Then it might just go the distance. :couch: But sorry mines not for sale. :coat:

Would prefer to shoehorn something like a Thunderstroke 116 motor into an XB frame rather than a 1190, but I'm oldschool! :old: and possibly crackers! :ner:

All fair observations. Luckily my views and opinions are offered on the understanding that I'm a mechanical incompetent and if they go wrong they get taken to Maz for fixing :D

I love this place :4roz: Keith knows the score and wants an XB9. Gus is in the vanguard of the purists saying "get a tuber". Clive wants more emoticons and Edd demonstrates how to make full use of the bike he has and our existing library of emoticons :worthy: Good luck in your search, Keith :yup:

Thanks, Steve...

All fair observations up above, but nothing that I didn't already (know is the wrong word) expect; having an XB12 has taught me many things.

I keep looking and find bikes with the right mileage and right age for my budget, but either too far up north to justify the £1000 collection delivery with GST and registration. South is the winning formula, but I can't help getting pipped to the post. Either deposit taken or "Someones coming up next week to have a look". That's the bitter pill you need to swallow living over here I guess.

I used to be on this forum too as Actionman Keith, back when YOFFI (Rest his sole) was active and working for DG20 in Southampton. It's good to see some of the originals are still here!

Hopefully, I can get back on here as a member/owner and not just some duche looking for another XB9...

Cheers all.

Good Luck Keith. Some say a pre cat '07 XB9SX is the way to go with an XB12, 'profile' or pegasus street fighter seat, solid colour plastics , oh! and 12 muffler (servo disconnected), white wire mod, etc, etc. ;)

Thought I had one... but the owner (rightfully) fell back in love with the bike and changed his mind.

Still looking if anyone wants to sell me an XB9S/SX

Thanks in advance

Keith

UPDATE:

Bike found and purchased. Arranging shipping at the moment but photos to follow once it’s here in Jersey.

Thank you to all that helped in the search, especially Steve...
