The result might also be that you run into the same issue within months. I'm sure a well aligned crankshaft is the key to engine stability, as I haven't heard about an engine fail after the crankshaft had been aligned. Maz is surely right that this might be more expensive (depending on the extent of work), but you know what you get, which is not the case with OEM Buell parts. Some of them seem to be broken as soon as they are taken from the assembly line.

mrmoo,

To be honest I'd take it to a dealer tell them you have a problem with it and part-ex it for a new bike. No need to be specific.
Why spend £1,000 on an engine and then have to fit it when a dealer may knock off a grand in a part-ex because of the problem.
