Wtf , thought the top end was buggered on the x1 , then realised one of the exhaust studs of the front cylinder was missing! How has that happened , I cab even see the thread into the head , but it goes in deep, so not snapped!

Yes I know it’s scabby before you point it out.....anyone give any pointers as to why? It has been replaced about 12k, now at 20k ......

What size do i need , part number? Quick fix till I ride it up to :maz: ?

Because it gets ridden more than polished?

You may find that if the exhaust system has not been mounted then tightened everywhere little by little until all mounts are tight, it may not have been loading the head studs uniformly resulting it snapping or vibrating out.

Thanks mate, I am going to replace all 4 studs and gaskets to be on the safe side........
I might even repack the Supertrapp and put it back on , as it has the standard pipe on still......

Never ever try to replace an exhaust stud that isn't broken ;) fit new ones if the old one screws out when trying to undo the nut or if one has broken but never ever remove a stud if it's still usable ;)

So just replace the one that fell out and the gasket? or just the stud and nut?

Looking at the amount of corrosion on that bike, retaining ring will need replacing.

Try the other front stud by double nutting it if it doesn't want to come don't force it. If the back ones are ok leave em.

I think the guy that drilled out the last snapped stud didn’t go deep enough , so I may have to ‘cut’ it down, will I have to remove the header and stuff the put the stud in, as the old just looks like it spun itself out , bloody vibrates enough!

You may find there's still a bit of the old stud in that hole
