As mentioned in post about neutral switch my indicators suddenly started acting weird

with ignition on engine off indicators flash steady both sides

start engine and near side flash very quickly while off side flash steady rate

if this was a car would have thought one of the bulbs had gone - an earth problem perhaps

cheers for any thoughts

is there enough slack in the cable to swap the left & right side over on the flasher relay
if it is & the problem swaps sides it's the flasher relay...
otherwise it's checking the connections on every indicator for corrosion
including all the lamp holders...electrical faults don't you just love em

problem seems to be front near side flasher - wiggle about and flashing returns to normal - so will get that stripped and fixed

MOT booked tomorrow

problem was previous owner joining wires by twisting together and taping up - will replace with connectors and then tape up

Had a similar thing - on mine it was simply the factory tabs on the wires connecting to the indicator backplate had loosened over time. Enough to stop one bulb working so the other flashes twice as fast to indicate a missing bulb. Crimped them a bit with pliers, all good.

The factory relay has this fast flashing warning built-in, but it makes using LED indicators a pain as the low current triggers the fast flashing. There is a mod where you prise open the relay, cut pin 7 on the IC chip to force the relay to flash at standard rate all the time, even if a bulb goes.
