Right got the one cable ,wired it up,and plugged it all in, got a code saying something about com port not found. Can anyone explain in very very basic terms what I do next..I don't want to use ECM spy to tune my engine cos as you can tell I don't have a clue,I just want to do a tps reset and a diagnostic every now and then. thanks in anticipation.....

Download its PDF & read relevant sections of Tuning Guide.

Learning a little and using ECMSpy continues as unexpected joy that "came with" riding an XB. :yup:

Seen yours around :) but never seen the black XBSS. Keep seeing a blue XBS and thought it might have been this guy as he had blue in his name

We got it working.

1. Tried Bc123s cable (TTL-232R-3V3) and laptop - didn't work
2. Tried Bc123s cable and my lap top - didn't work
3. Swapped Tx and Rx on Bc123s cable and tested with my laptop - worked (told us cable was OK and worked with FTDI driver)
4. Tried Bc123s cable and Bc123s laptop - didn't work
5. Forced it to use COM2 - didn't work
5. Uninstalled driver, re-installed driver - didn't work
6. Forced it to use COM2 - didn't work
7. Changed USB port (and forced it to use COM2) - worked

I am no real computer boffin, the Device Manager saw the cable on both USB ports, but it would only work on one of them...

But you worked through logically changing one thing at a time. Always the best way.
