Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anyone else with the 2008 25th Anniversary 1125r has problems with surging at low revs, mainly under 3,500 & mainly when I'm trying to ride steady. it's great accelerating through these low revs but as soon as I try to run steady it surges like it wants to go all the time. Can't ride in towns unless I'm in 2nd or 3rd gear keeping it above 3,500.

Has anyone had this & if so have they managed to fix it?

Mine had the air box inner cover removed before I got it, hopefully it's winging it's way to me, not sure if this has anything to do with it, no K&N or anything, standard exhaust & I've done a TPS reset & changed the plugs.

Still surges like a bull full of testosterone.

All the best Paul.

Check what firmware you have. My 1125 was a different animal after firmware BUE2D.

Yeah,

Thanks for that Pash,

To be quite honest, my bottles clanking about plugging the cable into the ECU & Computer. I was the same with my Triumph till I actually did it. I'm also unfamiliar with Ecmspy & the instructions seem really complicated to me, which doesn't help. Tune ECU was 3 pages of simple instructions with pics.

Twin Motorcycles reckon they can flash the ECU for £50 to the Bue2D programme you mentioned but I have to send the ECU to them, maybe over winter if I can't muster the balls to plug the ECU in to find out what's actually on there.

It's gonna cost £50 donation to get a map from the other site anyway (Sorry can't remember what it's called) & I may be wrong but there also seems to be a limit on what you can actually do & you're tied to the one ECU that you register, kind of irks me that does.

Seems like there isn't an easy fix at the moment & maybe a 2nd hand Race ECU & an exhaust to go with it may be the way to go as this will probably be where I end up anyway.

Pretty respondent at the moment to be honest

Thanks anyway. Paul

You check the firmware before choosing the database anyway, so best do that and report back.

I can get your firmware done too, and can also lend you an ECM to try with the BUE2D firmware (for the cost of stamps and a cubs honour promise to send it back).

Firstly sorry for the Drama yesterday, I was letting stuff get me down.

I just really want to get on with getting this 1125r sorted.

I Just let it drag on me a bit. Sorry about that folks.

Thanks for the offer of the ECU with Bue2D on it Pash. I would certainly appreciate the opportunity to try that programme. Clubs honour I would definitely send it back.

I'm gonna take the plunge & plug the Buell into my laptop today & see if I can identify the programme that's on it. This will be after I've taken it for a good ride & blown the cobwebs off myself.

I'll PM you Pash, thanks for taking an interest buddy, I really appreciate it.

Once again, Major apologies for my downer yesterday. I shouldn't have posted that probably.

All the best Paul.

Hi Took the plunge, got the Vent cover off. & the only plug I can see around the ECU that has a connector is different to the cable I got.

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct connection? Or the location of the connector I should be looking at?

Thanks folks Paul

No, that's the CAN resistor.
Data link is under the LH scoop.

Sorry, I was under the left hand scoop, that's where the ECU is.

Just had the right one off also & nothing under there.

Is it hidden somewhere like beneath the radiator cowl?

Thanks Paul.

Got the connector it was tucked up beneath the frame rail.

Onwards & upwards.

Paul.

Hi Folks,

Yahoo!

I finally mustered up the bottle to plug into the ECU (Via one of Pash's Cables) & read the ECU firmware.

Wasn't surprised to find it was the BUEZD version & very likely to be the root of my low speed surging problems.

Feeling like a Hero.

Thanks to Pash for his patience & help.

Thanks also to you all folks,

Great club to be part of. Paul.

Once you get that sorted it'll be a completely different ride. Mine is great in town, although I know it just wants to get out on the open road, where it runs even better.

The bike will be even nicer with a good exhaust! Sound, running and appearance!

If you want to take that plunge, there are a few different options depending on your budget. Ask here and you'll get the best advice. One of our guys makes good stainless setups and gets a lot of orders from the states too.

Hi Folks,

I was obviously expecting a miracle when I changed to the ECU with the BUE2D firmware that Pash so kindly lent me & I'm sorry my report after the first ride was kind of disappointing.

But;

Did another TPS Reset.

Went for a run again last night, about 30 miles of A & B roads.

The 1125r is pretty much manageable now.

Thanks to all who helped out & offered support.

This is a truly great club with a very helpful group of people on board.

Well done to all concerned.

Paul.
