I only remember one hit he had...'you're a lady'. Sad to lose another artist though.

It doesn't even need to be a friend as long as the food is good.

Through her disability, my girlfriend has known too many good people who have died young of their condition (patients who were injected with untested blood from haemophiliacs during the late 80s, also people with cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy or atrophy) when they were just passed their 2ndary education. That is a real tragedy and has made her appreciate life, but she still misses them and she remembers all their names! :sad1:

Not trying to bring anyone down, but to make the most of what we are given and to appreciate others for what they are!

Sir Howard Hodgkin - artist.

A strange one maybe, and the artist I think I loved to avoid, but I admire his dedication and the fact that he was to many the 'artists artist'. Ok, so art today can be whatever BS an artist says it is. Maybe Hodgkin would be better described as the 'painters painter'. His work is notable for heavily laid on paint with vivid colours in abstract style, which often extended over and around the side of a pre-installed picture frame. Seemingly simple and basic, his paintings would take him weeks of contemplating and deliberating to complete. Most of the women on my art course aspired to paint like him.

However if you want abstract expression, give me the narrative and humour of a Philip Guston painting any day!

A lovely old gent has just screeched up to the pearly gates. I'm not sure if he arrived on 2 or 4 wheels.
