Agreed, go for the op, I've had both done and 5 trigger fingers as well. Its a day surgery, local anaesthetic but I didn't feel a thing and it only took 20 minutes to do. I still ride an M2 and a Multistrada mainly and have had no problems. You will need to do your 'pressups' on your knuckles to prevent further damage though!!

Thanks for the info Duncan ( and others ).

I sat on a "not quite as described and the documents were all wrong" ) 2005 BMW R1200ST yesterday and didn't like it at all. Amongst other things, the seat was wide and quite hard edged as opposed to be gently rounded and it made me realise just how comfy the riding position is on my altered X1. I still have a BMW R1150R to look at but am seriously considering having both hands done later this year and hanging onto my 1203cc metal mistress. :worthy: ( If she'll take me back. )

Richard

PS - Out of interest Duncan, what were your previous carpal tunnel related symptoms on your M2 and have they now disappeared post op?

Yeah he fell of a roof while dicking about with an aerial, if he hadn't got his hand up that emu's arse he might have been able to hang onto the gutter

It wasn't that , he was spying on Rolf Harris next door, and fell off when his Bill boiled.

I fully understand about the carpal tunnel. I have a little bit of it which is bothersome. Really fucks with my guitar playing. Backside of my fingering hand will burn after 5 minutes sometimes. Other nights I can go an hour but I have to rest it up between songs. I'd speculated for many years that the vibes of the bikes had something to do with it along with my daily job behind a computer and all the other impact sports I'd done since a child.

That said, I also have a bike to sell due to medical reasons... a dirt bike with only 4 rides on it. Took a 2 year break and thought I was good enough to get back to it. Apparently not. It's a spine issue, not the hand, but the hand does burn off and on in the 1st hour of the ride.

I don't recall my R1100 bikes being a bother to it except maybe after pushing hard after 12 hours in the saddle. The R1100/1150R is a fine steed and has none of the problems that the R1200 bikes do. These were bulletproof. The R1200 series are definitely not. But they are better bikes when nothing is wrong. If you think HD parts can be expensive...you've never owned a BMW. HD = hundred dollars. BMW = Bring my wallet, cuz you'll need your hundred dollars and your debit and credit cards too.

Buells are difficult to get back once you get rid of them. So maybe wait to sell if you want to try surgery. Good luck.

Yeah, you can keep that crap. The only appropriate one to have should be "SUCKER"

Thanks Duncan and Bob.

I had to buy her flowers but my metal mistress agreed to take me back after I promised not to to foresake her for another. I'll arrange to get both hands done this winter and will be hanging on to my X1 until I'm too old and wrinkly to ride.

Richard
