Hi, thanks for letting me re-join the forum after a pretty long absence! I have my 1998 S1 Lightning for sale. It is in excellent condition. Has not been ridden since 2009, and only did around 300 miles in the 3 years or so preceeding that. I have kept it because it was my dream bike. I won't have another bike, and I know I now have neither the time, nor the inclination to ride it. It needs a good home, with someone who will appreciate the beauty and the 'unique'ness of these bikes. I have owned it since 2001, had some amazing times with it, never an ounce of trouble. It's black (resprayed with very fine candy type black) It has a few nice extras - mikuni 42mm carb, force filter, thunderstorm heads, yost powertube, vance & hines exhaust, wavy front disc, to name a few. It has done 14,000 miles, all dry since i owned it, barring a couple of weather forecaster malfunctions years ago. It has been maintained well and has just passed an MoT. (Brake pads advisory, will be done if required). The rear tyre was fitted brand new around 5 years or so ago. I know this model is hard to price, I've compared to similar and am happy to receive sensible offers. If you're interested I guess you will know what a sensible price is. Perhaps somewhere between 4,500 - 5,000 might be an idea? I'm sure it will be worth different things to different people. I am in no hurry to sell and really would like to know the bike will be cherished as I have. We are between Derby and Nottingham.
