It does look nice and not wanting to get into the argument, I am surprised it needs an SVA to register it as there will be an E mark on the VIN sticker and Steve at Blackbear, an avid supporter of the forum, would knock you out a homologation certificate in two shakes of a lamb's tail...

 Can I just clarify this cos its getting on my tits now, if the vehicle is under ten tears old you NEED a SVA test. I also had to mot and insure the bike using its vin number before dvla would issue a tax disc and allocate a new reg number.........I´m really not making this up......."I know because I was that soldier"

P.s the SV also has an E mark on its vin plate, exhaust and all the lenses its eurocrasty at its worst, even the guy at the VOSA station agreed with me it was bollox in fact he had tested a Buell from Germany not long before I was there and there was a Beemer GS 1150 booked in after me.....its a money maker nothing more

Just to clear up the import debate, I've bought the Uly from Ireland and didn't need a type approval test (MSVA). I did get a certificate of conformity from Harley UK (through a local dealer). Only took a couple of days to come through, was much easier than going through the hassle of getting it tested. Cost of re-registering is £55 + whatever the tax is for the bike + new number plate.

You also need form V55/5 (from local DVLA office), valid insurance cert, proof of ID and log book.

The Uly is great :D :D :D :D lots of trips planned already.........

GUSM2 - A little advice before you continue to spoil threads elsewhere. Do your homework first, then check it, then check it again. No hard feelings but your story simply did not add up. I think maybe that you were unlucky in getting an employee in the motor office that simply did not know the correct procedure and took you on a wild goose chase. Please dont take this personally but only for the homework the chap did before purchasing my bike did the sale go through, otherwise, taking your advice i would have missed the opportunity to sell.

JOHNNYSPEED, I never tried to ´spoil´ your thread or the sale of your bike, I was recounting my own experience of registering a bike from outside mainland UK. Yeah maybe I should have done some more homework on the matter as I have since found out that the Chester branch of DVLA are renouned for being a bunch of jobsworth tosspotts. However no hard feelings and I´m glad it worked out for you and the new owner I suppose thats the advantage of having a forum where there are people who are in the know and able to help out
