A crime to think for the first 15yrs it has basically sat in a storage room, buy it ride the fuck out of it, leave it in no fit state for the next lucky person to own it once you no longer can- its a motorcycle not an artifact to be worshiped,
I see a Harley mentality here developing of more time washing than riding - owners and riders being two different things. Don't understand people who own bikes and rarely ride them :headbang:

:yt:

That is exactly how I feel about Maz and his Blast

It's not always straightforward as to why a bike (or car for that matter) has very low mileage. It's true some people do buy vehicles and just keep them in the garage or shed, but you just never know. Injury, divorce, there are many reasons why older, low mileage items come up for sale. I had a MV Agusta F4 that I owned for 7 years. In that time I covered just 1200 miles on it! I mentioned injury and divorce as two reasons why a bike might not get much use, those two things were instrumental in my case. Thinking about it, inclement weather could be another factor, I'm thinking the cold wet summer of 2012!

the seller was a collector and did own over 50 bikes.norton, vincent, triumph, ducati and so on.most bikes were classic track bikes and all in mint condition .never seen such a collection.he did use most of them on track.

i told him my new x1 will get a lot of extra miles this year :)

My bike gets very little use. Three things have to fall into place before it gets used; Not at work, decent weather and no other jobs to do.......the three rarely coincide......If that upsets/annoys/frustrates people......tough sh!t....it's my bike...TBH, if you feel that peeved that a bike doesn't get used, buy it and ride it. If you don't then you're just somebody else not riding it.....just like the owner...the only difference is that he has a financial interest in it...

Tend to agree, I enjoyed building my S1 over the winter and there is no way or reason to ride it in the shit weather.
There is no right or wrongs to bike ownership, I find it hard to understand how people can have a 175mph crutch rocket with a chain that has never seen chain lube and a pair of front calipers that are seized, (this is a fairly common sight down a friends dealership) still people do things for their own reasons that what make us different.

443 miles or not, my old S1W, also on eBay, is starting to look better value...

Amusing to find a comment made about NOT riding a motorcycle raises the hackles of others .
I could care less if you own a bike and don't ride it, for whatever reason, your loss, your business IMHO, I have and continue to ride in all weathers and across many countries, and own many vehicles which I rotate use of as it pleases me.
I was purely making comment from my perception of the pleasure of owning a motorcycle. and using it for its primary use to get from A to B which I have been doing for over 33yrs legally
Some get pleasure from washing it every sunday on the drive, others telling you down the pub what go faster bits they have put on it, others collect, some ride daily.
To each their own and my observation was a observation, which did not require justification from anyone :headbang:

Nobody was trying to "justify" your observation. That is what you've just done.
Your original post was made with the express intention of raising the hackles of others......well done ;) .

Owners, riders - all the same to me. Self satisfied bikers on the other hand......... :D ;)

Someone must have made an offer that he couldn't refuse. Personally I would have let it run as if two people want it when would they ever get another?
