Thanks for the words of encouragement. I sort of know what I am getting into, I owned an early 90s Ducati when their quality control was at its lowest ebb, but if you sorted the known faults and stayed on top of the required maintenance they were actually pretty good, and had so much character than some other marques.
My immediate plan for the Cyclone in order of priority is
Immediately
1. Check oil pump gear and upgrade if required
2. Check primary tensioner and upgrade if required
3. Change that air filter!!!
within a couple of months
4. Upgrade front steady and iso bolts
5. Source latest spec rear Isos ready to change when required
6. See if Maxton can build me a rear shock (have used them before, the kit on my 94 Speed Triple is sublime)
Wasn't going to do anything with the disc or exhaust bracket unless they started playing up
Have I missed anything crucial?
No, you've got it figured out. While what Maz pointed out has been upgraded by Buell, what you have works just fine for now. I've had older gen Buells that looked like everything was sourced from the local hardware store bins and it didn't kill me. However, Maz is the guy to go to for getting shit done properly. Wish I had the likes of him where I am. I'd only have to put up with a reaming one visit then he'd be happy again.
An M2 is one of those bike that can really last forever. I've seen many examples of M2s over 1xx,xxx.
