Post subject:  Set of S1 forks with Maxton race internals for sale ...

I have a set of S1 WP forks with Maxton race internals for sale.

They are in great condition, rebuilt by Maxton with race internals for the Teambegger race bike and then found their way onto my M1 before I bought it.

I swapped them out for the set of X1 forks I bought from Lucky. The S1 forks were too focused for my riding style and I needed softer ones.

Would be ideal for anyone wanting to change their M2 forks for upside down ones or for the faster S1 riders amongst you. They cost silly money to buy and double again that to have them resprung and tuned by Maxton, Ideally I would like £200 for them plus the postage (what ever that might be) or you can collect them/use Begger post :)

Ash,

You have PM - I'd certainly be interested in buying them.

Ash,

Total pleasure dealing with you. You should now have funds - let me know if there's any problems.

I'll have a word with Tubbs and collect from his shop next weekend. Probably just take them home and fit them myself as I need to make another left-hand caliper bracket before going too far! I'll check whether he has a set of yolks - thanks for the info on this.

When I spoke last with Tubbs we agreed to fit the NRHS 1250 barrels & Stage 3 heads I bought recently from Mev. In passing he mentioned that there was a genuine 2-3bhp extra to be had at the rear wheel simply by spinning up the gearbox faster - something to do with the rotation of the Earth I believe. So I've also bought the primary drive gear reduction set from R&R Customising.

I can't decide - will reduced primary gearing plus reduced (American) final drive gearing plus increased horsepower & torque (100+bhp; 90+ ft-lb) help cure my wheelie-addiction? :rotfl:

Cheers,

Thanks mate now sold!

You may as well let Tubbs fit them while your there, they take about 20 minutes to fit and its a pain at home if you dont have the kit to jack the front end up. Its a good time for Tubbs to give it the once over while there.

Thanks again mate, I am really looking forward to seeing your bike when finished, it sounds like a beast!

Cure your wheelie addiction? You'll be main lining  i know it makes no financial sense at all but what is it that keeps us throwing money at these wee beasties? Maybe it is things like last saturday when I went to the local KTM shop to place an order for the new 690 Duke, 5 seperate people stopped me to perv Beelzeebub, 2 of them Wimmin

Forgot to add, Wot ash said :yt: I have just sent Tubbs a pair of new X1 forks for Beelzeebub to tweek before he slots them in. My simple mantra is ' if it is important let Tubbs at it first', assuming its not your bird (Yeh, I know he is all loved up, only kiddin').

It is in a quaint seaside resort known as Gosport, (twinned with Homs and Kabul) and it was definitely wimmin cos their tattoos were girly and they took their roll ups out of their mouth before speaking to me.

Gents,
Can I ask a favour?

Tubbs thinks the M2 yokes can be opened out to accept the S1 upside-downers. This would be easier than buying new - I could be back on the road and loitering outside Gosport bike dealerships in no time...

Just need to know there's enough meat on them. If you'd be so kind as to measure up then the customary praise & renumeration would be forthcoming

Important numbers:
a) Distance between forks (e.g. left-hand/outer side of left leg to left-hand side/inner side of right leg)
b) Diameter of fork at top & bottom yoke (just to be sure!)
c) Thichness of metal between edge of yoke (both top & bottom) to the fork itself.

Thank you :worthy:

P.S. Mev - Tubbs has been holding out on you: http://www.moore-speed-racing.co.uk/. Sure look like wimmin to me!

A. 194.5 c to c
B. 54 nominal but measured as 53.87, 53.87, 53.89 and 53.90 at RH L, RH T, LH L and LH T
C. 11.25 top and 12 bottom

Tubbs knows what he is doing, have faith 8-)
