For sale my beloved X1 2001 this is a Limited edition number 6 of 50 (number in paint job on side of tank) I have got to part with her finally through lack of use! I have owned her since 2006 and had great fun on her but now she must go to a new home where she may be actually ridden,

It’s a 2001 Y Reg and she has done 11,000 miles, she is taxed and Mot’d till August. There are loads of extras fitted briefly these are;

Supertrap exhaust, Forcewinder kit, Buell hand grips, Renthall red handlebars, Carbon tank accents, Carbon hugger and belt guard, There is a Ventura luggage system fitted with a grab handle or the big rack/bag holder (you swop them over) for the right price this can go with the bike it cost about £200. There is a brand new HD genuine battery fitted less than 6 months ago the tyres have done about 1000 miles if even that so are basically as new.

She rides great and is really good fun and a real eye catcher I also have a 99/00 Lightning X1 genuine service manual which can be included. And all of the original parts which were removed – Exhaust plastics (Air box + hugger) etc. I am located on the Devon/Cornwall border and am looking for around £4000 ono

Thats lovely, only ever seen one other with that body work and that's Norms. It's got some nice parts fitted too, Has it had its 10K service?

I'm wondering if this is a genuine 2001 MODEL bike bought new in this colour as I'm sure that these were originally 2000 models.
All the clues say it is a 2001 bike ie late style gear linkage / black pushrod covers / late front disc and rear shock etc. So did Buell release a batch in more than one year? Seeing as this is number 6 they must have done OR somebody updated a 2001 bike with the VERY expensive bodywork which was available as an optional extra.
When I bought Muffin Big Rock had just received it that week and it is a 2001 model and if I remember right cost £7700 + £200 extra for the Nuclear blue frame and wheels , the only other X1 they had was a 2000 model in the colours like this one , the price of a 2000 model in the limited edition paint was a staggering £9995 :shock: :o

I have always hoped to find out more about my bike but never come across any. I bought it like this and as I was given all of the old airbox etc thought it must have come like this and with the number on the side of the tank and the log book classes it as Red, It was reg in May 2001 but as I was not the 1st owner I do not know any more about it as there is so little info available on these colours, I wonder how many of the 50 are still out there there can't be many!

Kev, I'm pretty sure that all those limited edition paint sets are dealer ordered and installed, not actually delivered from the factory. I've seen these and other LE paint schemes on '99-'02 bikes locally and on BWB. So, I'm sure hers is the year she says it is, just not the factory plastics as the dealer has likely sold those off since these LE bits came to about $2000 USD IIRC.

Talk to Steve at BB, if I remember correctly, you could purchase the paintwork as an accessory. I remember the bodywork/ paintjob up on the wall at Newmarket, with a couple of different styles of artwork to choose from.
Might be wrong, memory wasn't what it was

Just searched thru the bikes history and the earlist receipt was in 2003 for a service @ Riders Bridgewater and it's listed then as Red splash at 2143 miles so must have been on from new.

x1glider is right. This was a Limited Edition paintset and could have been fitted to any model year X1. I'm aware of three sets in the UK, two belonged to H-D UK members of staff (one of which is now Norm's "handbag") and the third was owned by my boss and was later sold to a lady customer who still has it. Big Rock obviously also had a fourth example.

If you want to PM me your VIN Number, Gypsygirl, I can check out which dealer originally registered the bike and who to. It won't record anything about the paint set but will list the colour the machine was originally built in.

Just checked history and definitely a 2001 model originally finished in Bull's Eye Red with Black Frame and Cast Wheels. No recalls (which is correct for a 2001 model) and no warranty claims registered against it :yup:

I bought an X1 flyscreen in Red Snap from DG20 circa 2000. Word was that it had come off their limited edition paintset bike. It put down roots in that showroom until Mr Normie eventually took pity on it and made it his own.
Handbag, I have part of your previous identity!

Wow the plot thickens! I love the paint job and am still not too happy about it having to go but too much of a luxury to have sitting around now I do not get much chance to ride her. :?
