Hi all,

I am considering a major "life move" and chucking the whole thing in to moving to the Welsh borders.

As such, the whole Buell thing might be up for sale.

We have an original 2003 XB9R (sub 30k miles - 52 plate) that was changed out for carbon fibre bodywork very early. All of the original bodywork is boxed (white and blue), with many after-market parts (again., all originals; boxed and saved) also switched.

I had to make a new "room" above my garage just to hold the XB spares that I bought along the way.

We also have the "51 plate" M2 with the full Aerotech fairing (bear in mind that the Aerotech was designed for the S1, so we had to cut and re-profile it for the M2 - expensive work!) and a whole world of new tech: tyre pressure sensors, keyless ignition, Kawasaki front end etc etc.

At a best guess I have way over £20k into the M2 (all reciepts included), so reasonable offers for the whole lot willl be considered.

Oh, the Lotus is up for sale too - starting at 12K if you buy the Buell stuff too.

Dave

OK all,

I'm starting to get old-ish (mid 50's heading my way).

I have a nice enough little house here in Havant, near Portsmouth, but it is not the "house for a lifetime". I need a bit more space (out buildings) and some darker skys so that I can do my astronomy thing.

After a lot of research and speaking to the directors of the company that I work for, somewhere in Herefordshire works out quite well. It means that I can still get to our clients in Southampton - and back - in a day, and also means that I can service the clients in the Bristol area and south Wales easily. (So, the directors are already on board.)

Property prices suggest that Herefordshire could give me more space. As I am getting older, I don't want to increase the mortgage any more than I have to, so I am looking at some of the things I have and working out what could be put into the "property purchase pot".

I have done under 1K miles in the Lotus this year -every one of those miles was a complete hoot - but does this justify the £240 tax, the savage insurance and the servicing costs? A similar thing for the Buells.

Oh, if Adam wants to come down and take the thing out for a test anytime, he is more than welcome. A single seat, rearset, clip-on, USD forked, fully faired Buell is certainly not your everyday Buell. If I can finance the house move without selling it, I will: but I have to put it into the mix as part ofd the bigger picture.

Dave,

Mid 50 ish is not old, I am around that [plus] and intend to keep riding as long as I can get my leg over a bike even if it means tipping it over at an angle no scooters for me that's akin to riding side saddle.

Ask yourself what it would be like without a bike, if you won't miss it all's good but I know folk who still hanker after one years after retirement its an individual choice.

Having a Buell is somewhat like exotica "okay" some folk may curse and swear at them BUT could you replace it, it's not like having a jap bike that are two ha-penny or even a Harley :D could you replace it only you can answer that.

Being of a certain age too, I grew up with an abhorrence of scooters. However, a few weeks ago my local bike dealer gave me one for a moped endurance race that Mojomick, Jill and Garry (with families) took part in. What a bloody hoot it was too, more fun than being on Track with a proper bike. The centrifugal transmission is brilliant for playing with, getting the weights right so the clutch engages when the motor is 'on the pipe' makes them like angry wasps lOl

I'd absolutely love that bike Dave, but knowing how much you would need for it to break even, it's a non starter for me. I would have to sell my house to buy your bike... lOl lOl
I does attract some right old sorts though.... 8-)

I have never had so much fun riding a moped. Completely out of my comfort zone as never ridden one before, but what a laugh, didn't want to stop. Thanks for all your hard work prepping the bike etc. :yup: :yup:

If you do move to Herefordshire Dave, you will be just a little spoilt by being in spitting distance of some excellent Buell roads over the border and beyond to the 'Welsh Circuit(s)' where when the sun shines you'll only want to stop when fuel or coffee beckon. 8-)
