Ok, so there's no way of dressing this up.. Having taken my decrepit M2 to the Maz-meister for so very long overdue TLC, I have been forced to accept it was D.O.A ... Basically it was cosmetically in such a mess, that having dis-assembled it, Maz suggested the best bet was for me to offer it as a project to someone... Apparently the motor's in good nick internally, but basically it's a 2000 MY basket case; It's done about 30K (ODO was a replacement, think it says about 14K miles), is molten orange (the tank has a divot out of the gel-coat, courtesy of black ice), the rear body work is cracked to buggery (will need replacing), and the engine case coatings are flaked to buggery.. I won't lie, it's a mess. Also comes with AST shock (needs a little cleaning up, a-hem) Rear swinger in black powdercoat. If anyone's interested or wants to make me an offer, please drop me a PM, 'cos I'm working in Turkey at present. If someone could breath some life back into the old devil, I'd be pleased, (and envious), and would like to see what might have been, had I had the money or the time... Off to sulk now, but then, that's Karma, baby.... |

If the engine is O.K. and it's just the cosmetics like you say then surely it is fixable You should see the state of 30 year old LC's being bought back from the dead from rotten frames, tanks, broken engine cases etc |

It's definitely fixable but at 40 quid an hour plus parts the final bill would be almost double what the bike would be worth.......that's why it's up for sale as a project Bike is completely stripped, frame etc. ready for powder coating, crankcases are split as one of the head studs sheared (broken piece now removed) So basically, an ideal project for someone with the time/ability. |

Just to confirm the spec on a 2000 model M2 Would this be close to what it would have originally looked like? http://www.thecreeper.net/buell/P0003182s.jpg |

Well you won't always be working in Turkey y'know, just get to box it up for you and you'll have something to do when you get back. Or, if I get back before you, I'll take it off your hands You can't just sell it, someone will make a ch*&per out of it |

Thanks for adding the background info on this debacle, Maz.... The trouble is, altho' I will have somewhere to store the bits, that's exactly what will happen... they'll just stay stored! This isn't really the outcome I wanted, but I have to realistic, and as Maz and others have pointed out, there are "summertime" M2's kicking around for ~£2-2.5K, so I might as well look down that avenue once I'm back in the land of the living.... |

it was on fleabay in summer 2009 in one piece, cant remember if i bid or not but ended up winning the bids on my x1 around the same time (turned out to be a nail) . Seems a good winter project for anyone handy with the spanners and a spare 2K. |
