Post subject:  Power Commander for XB9 and possibly 12!!

Hi all....bought this a while ago when I was really into my Buell, after having nightmares with a TFi box. Havent got round to putting it on the bike, hardly use the bike as it is, so might as well sell it.

Since a map will need to be tuned, I think it should work on either a 9 or 12

Simple to fit, goes in-line between electrics.
£195 (would cost new £295)

Any questions please post or ring Charlie-07941508512

Is it for 07 and older or 08 and newer?

Are there maps available so it can be a plug-n-play?

Can you tune front and rear independently?

Will it do ignition too?

Hi- I think it was for an earlier model...but have they changed that much?

Maps- you might be able to download some....but of course would be best to have it mapped by a proper tuner.
It works through ignition I think

x1 pc3 poss.
i had 2 pc made care of nrhs for xbs by dynojet one went on mervs bigbore xb9 and the other who knows were it went.
if merv still has it (as he took it off) i would be interested to see if i can auto tune on our dyno with it fitted to a xb.

Any chance you could put that in English? ;)

This is for an X1, possibly a Power Commander version 3

I had two Power Commanders made up through NRHS by Dynojet. One went on Merv's bigbore XB9 and the other has disappeared.

If Merv still has it, I would be interested to see if I can use the "Autotune" function on the Dynojet dyno at Morespeed when fitted to an XB.

My understanding of the Autotune function is that a number of runs are made on the dyno, the data (including O2 at the exhaust EXIT) is logged, the computer on the dyno then looks at the O2, decides how much more/less fuel needs to go in to make the O2 right for 13.2:1 (or so) then updates the table in the POwercommander automatically.

I am not convinced myself, cos although this may work great on a jap inline 4, it will be far from perfect on a V twin... As I keep saying :headbang: front and rear maps will be different for the best running, this is largely due to header length, but also to temperature differences... If you stick to stock headers, the issue will not be so pronounced, but swap to Ti Force, Aero 45s, Blaster V, RS402, QD etc. and the engine performance will be compromised.

Solutions, best to worst (can't be all that bad really):
1. to have a pre-08 bike and ECMSpy the ECM
2. fit TWO fuel fixers
3. fit one fuel fixer
4. do nothing

I have been through all this myself already...

So what your're saying is that this wont fit an XB unless tuned correctly?

IL4 are tuned sequentially, per cylinder, and O2 data is taken from a single header per run.

Which means that you need a boss welded on each exhaust header.

Just been thinking about this... It may do this, if there is a slave exhaust with a lambda sensor boss on each header, however the PC, IIRC, can only hold one map, so that map is applied to ALL cylinders... So why do each inidividually? How do you know which one is "right"?

Getting O2 data is easy by installing a (comparably small) rivet nut in every header. The O2 sensor itself is then connected via a copper tube and a vacuum pump. As far as I know this is a standard procedure in IL4 tuning. Recent PC models should support up to four fuel maps, but I've never seen the software myself. Maybe this ability is reserved to professional tuners only.

I have a PC3 USB on an R6 at the moment and it only has one map.

on v twins (but not buell) that use pc we can run two maps one for front and one for rear, but as you say pash you do need to pick up from front and rear pots.
we can also give a higher rpm limit and play with timing.
pc5 with all the toys is fit and forget but not available for xb range.
in a nut shell the pc offered here is for a x1 (imo)

So, is there a PC5 for another V Twin, that we can make work with a Buell?
