Sent you a pm as I have a XB front disc that I swapped when my bike was nearly new for a wavy disc.

Oh and its for a 2007 XB12Ss.....Would that fit ok?

I'm sure all Xb's use the same disc (and kettles as well) just a thought Chris is your disc really knackered or just suffering a build up of pad deposits which gives the same symptoms as a warped disc? A clean and then using good sintered pads will often sort this problem.

well it got an advisory on the MOT and i can definitely feel that it is biting unevenly. Im guessing that the disc is the original so i will investigate the pads when i can. pm's will be replied to.

It is quite a well known problem that the original pads leave a deposit on the disc which gives exactly the same feeling as a warped one ;)

so is it worth just trying to clean the pads or just replace the pads first? Surely if the disc is warped they would have shaped to the shape of the disc if you get my drift?

Chris

The pads leave a deposit on the disc which gives the impression that the disc is warped ....if you clean the disc off ....I think they recomended scotchbright pads to do the cleaning but i'm sure somebody will confirm what to use, then change to a good quality sintered pads either EBC or the ones Maz stocks but can't remember the make ...these pads do not leave a deposit and will further clean the disc.
Worth trying before changing the disc and won't be a waste as you need the pads anyway.

I am with Kev on this. The stock pads leave deposits. Clean with some brake cleaner and steel wool / scotchbrite or similar, then use some decent pads.

Maz recommends Braking.

Fitting or re-fitting an XB front disc needs new springs and bolts.

Well worth a try first Chris .............pads won't be wasted anyway if it doesn't cure it ;)
