An update from Heytesbury.....
I rode my Firebolt back from Lightning Services, on Saturday morning.

What a joy. Thanks to all I am now back on the road. The only problem is that my navigation skills have suffered - it took five hours to make my way the 16 miles to home. I just kept taking the wrong turns and getting increasingly lost on roads, which all seemed to have lots of bends.

YeeeHaaa!
I have had the silencer and down pipes Zircotec coated - mixed feeling on this, on the forum, I know. I am delighted with it as I had wanted to keep the "Original" silencer but didn't want to watch it rot away. I had asked Baz, at Lightning to wrap the headers but we thought coating may look better. I chose grey, as opposed to black. I enclose a couple of photographs. The surprise is the one of the silencer, which shows the stamped reference arrow for lifting. This coating is finer and more precise that it initially appears. The only way to clean it is with a brush - it eats any cloth or sponge.
Whilst doing the engine swop I asked Baz to check and replace, as required the wheel/swing-arm/stearing bearings and engine mountings. We replaced the engine front mounting (- I reckon that one is worth looking at quite often) and all of the rear-end bearings. It looks like the last rear tyre change was performed by Fred Flinstone...........
Fitted a sprung belt tensioner and will check the security of the bolts acouple of times over the coming weeks.(Another excellent tip, thanks)
I would like to thank Pash for spotting the engine, the moderator for pointing me to this site everyone who took an interest and Baz and Kevin at Lightning Services for doing such a comprehensively professional job on my bike.
I hope to meet with you all, one day when I am out on my Firebolt.......
Graeme
PS GWBikespares have expressed and interst in the clutch, from the dead engine but I'd prefer to let the whole thing go. If anyone is interested, please send a PM. Please, Please be aware that this engine died from a seized oil pump, so EVERYTHING that moves will be damaged. I can only let it go on that understanding. The clutch, primary and gearbox were always good. It's a "Buyer Collects" as I have no suitable transport: a donation of substance, from any sale price will go the this site. I am indebted to it.
