I wouldn't worry too much about the noise. I did a BikeSafe course before doing the IAM bollocks. The pipe nearly made my ears bleed, and the plate wasn't particularly legal either. Mr Plod said he didn't care as he was only there to assess my riding - he even thought my black visor was a good idea on that particularly sunny day  Not all of them are twats, sadly, the ones that are give rest a bad name
