On tinkering with my X1 today I found that the previous owner (or one of them) had disassembled the RH switchgear and lost the spring that sits behind the contact on the kill switch. But to compensate, they had soldered the W/B and G wires together so you could never make the mistake of having the kill switch "off" The spring is probably about 2mm (spring not wire) dia by 5mm long... Question is, where can I find small springs? |

If it's not one of those conical spring jobbies that are sometimes found in switchgear, then I've a box full of small springs that I'll rummage through. Failing that, ball point pens, springs in BIC lighters that push the flint, the little spring that holds the ball bearing in an old ratchet handle, etc, etc |

I think that the spring that holds the gyroscopic firing sensor on an old Marconi Sea Dart missile could be the same. Should be easy to source. |

Thanks everybody, I will try Lee Springs. I also found a place in Cornwall specialising in radio controlled boats that has a selection. Next job is to pull some switchgear off another bike and measure up... |

I've been in the playpen and found a stash of 3mmx6mm and 3mmx11mm springs that are probably strong enough for switchgear. Any good? |

Just pulled another switchgear apart, coil is 3mm diameter and 6mm long... |
