wow, much cheaper than I expected. Really does make me wonder about some of the prices on a well know internet auction site!

TBH I reckon you could make something up yourself if you're a little bit handy ...

...and I wouldn't trust something bolted to a standard plastic seat base.

I think having a load secured just by the seat latch wouldn't be good either.

I've bolted a box to a number of pillion pads without any problem - and actually can't envisage any problems (unless you are stupid enough to overload it).

They are designed to take a pillion - even a child is a good deal heavier than a top box.

I agree I'd rather fabricate a proper base but ......

Anvil made a tack that fitted to the seat base. Have a search through his posts for pictures.

Yep but a passenger is not bolted to the seat base ,the passenger is free to move around on it and their weight is supported on footrests . With a luggage box bolted to it all it's weight and cornering forces will be pulling at the seat latch
The seat is for a person to rest on .......not to hold them onto the bike

Maybe not with a Buell but a lot of sports bikes had straps across the pillion pad for the pillion to hold onto.

Anyway, I've done it before, I'll do it again and even if it flies off I will not admit I'm wrong
