My long time riding buddy (no smirks at the back there) has owned a mint '94 900ss for 15 years and has no intention of parting with it but in his retirement he is looking for something to tinker with.

He has looked at a range of stuff but I suggested he try out Buell ownership as he has always enjoyed riding my various tubers over the years. Problem is his budget is a strict top end of £2750 which I know will not find much these days but I thought I would try out you guys just on the off chance.

So, fingers crossed if there is anyone out there please drop me a pm with your number.

All the best

Brian

Short update; still looking for a bike but for a cyclone only.

Long update; We were contacted by a member with a really good X1 to start my pal off in the right direction but after a few chats my pal saw an unregistered rotax CCM on ebay which purported to have only 0.4 miles on the clock. As this was one of his long time "fantasy garage" bikes and particularly as it was an "as new" sleeper it sang to his heart and buell ownership was cast asunder!!

We secured a reasonable reduction to the (IMHO) high asking price but as it was unregistered I asked for the VIN and engine numbers to HPI it and check it out with the factory before we set off with his donkey choker!

HPI was OK but the CCM factory came back and said................
"it never left us with that engine in it!" and other stuff I won't mention here.

Now of course there is nothing wrong with an engine swap and a few miles here or there but not when it was being advertised as "brand new old stock" at a price premium and who knows what sort of mileage the second engine had, or what it's provenance was.

I got on the phone and challenged the seller and his story changed a couple of times before it fell apart. He blamed the factory for getting their facts wrong but was reluctant to call them to sort it out in spite of me suggesting this three or four times.

We pulled out.

Having had a little time to settle himself down I have brought him back into the fold and he is definitely now set on a cyclone (or derivative) rather than an X1.

So, gentlemen, start your engines.............!!! what do you have in those sheds!!

Should ask Willy to buy his X1. He says it's finished. To everyone else, looks like a fixer upper. ;)
