Condition not too important, scruffy is OK.
Engine and running gear must be good though.
Age and mileage not important.

Lovely bit of kit, based on an old BSA which the British forces helped to build after the 2nd world war in Japan in an effort to get Japan back on it's feet.
Very useable machine, saw one recently taken out to 680cc....

Yes, I have seen them, but I don't think they sold that well in the UK. :?

I would have thought looking for a Yam XS650 would give you a better chance.

Probably likely to be a bit pricier though.

Nige. 8-)

I know what you're doing 8-)
You won't find one of these cheap in the UK, they didn't sell that many and they're really sought after for custom builds.

:yt:

Quite rare and pricey, most tend to have been bought by more discerning owners so pretty well looked after which doesn't help in finding a cheap one.

A friend of mine has a modified one which is very well presented in full Steve McQueen - Great escape livery..... Nice bike and looks (a bit) like the trumpet from the fim :yup:

Is this what your looking for :D Spent 2 years on it and as you say not cheap?
Cost me a bloody fortune, and still not finished spending. Spent many a year restoring Jap classics and had enough :headbang: The only thing you gain trying to source the parts is an empty bank account

Old Bike Mart may be your best bet. As the others have said, they extremely rare.

Joking!! There loads of 'em about!!!
But they're all owned by old duffers who only ride them to church on Sunday, and NEVER if it's wet, so they're all immaculate condition, low mileage, and asking top money.......just what I don't want! lOl
I'm after a project bike, and not bothered about cosmetics as I'll be binning lots of it! :)

Ahh  ........you must be thinking about the current retro looking bike, that's confused us old duffers a bit coz they used to produce, back in the 60's, a bike that was more or less a direct copy of the BSA A10 (as Spen mentioned ;) )

This is the W1 we're on about,
