Petrol Prices

Postby t965m » Tue Apr 27, 2021 7:38 pm

I know we’ve been around this bouy before but - topped up Magz car with V Power tonight and it was 20p a litre more expensive than standard. WTF! Last time I remember checking it was like 6p a litre.

Is it really worth pretty much a quid a gallon more than standard?

It still says E5 on the pump so that’s a max of 5% ethanol I think? I’m not getting the extra mpg either ;)

i'm using esso , and some places USED to have no ethanol .
but have noticed a drop off in MPG since christmas , could be just cold weather .
and yes it used to only be about 6 pence difference between regular and super but now 20 pence per litre , 90 pence per gallon , why the change ?
long term is the super better for the engine , ie less problem with fueling and fuel injection system ?

A farmer told me that super was less ‘oily’ so better for injectors, but where does his knowledge come from? Experience with different engines? :?

I’ve been using Esso 99 RON in my Clio car for the last few fill ups....wow! Seems to have more midrange pull, and I can overload the throttle with no hassles. It just digs deeper then launches.

Will top up my Buell soon weather permitting. ;)

My babies will always get the good stuff - not sure about the 4 wheeled things though :)

My "Mo" only gets the good stuff, apparently the motor was designed to run on high octane
I can say " hand on heart" that "Mo" struggled a bit hassling Porsche's between Pen-y-pass? and Capel curig...but now with a K&N free flow filter and a tank of high octane....they don't stand a chance

At £1.39.9 per litre here, Esso 99 RON is crazy expensive on four wheels......but addictive even in my old 1149cc 8V Clio, no doubt helped by fitting a K&N and my own cool air induction system. ;)

And who doesn't like to see a Porsche being hassled

The air pressure will be 1028 mb Sunday in places, good Buelling weather, but a bit less Monday when I plan to venture out. ;)

On the other hand it took me nearly 5 hours to get the 118 miles from Streatham Common back to the van depot in Tewkesbury today. it looks like everyone and their dog is off to pee in the sea this week-end. lOl Might be better just to stay home and polish the Buell! 8-)

I spied a silver/black XB9s with Remus? And cropped fender at Clockhouse Roundabout near Heathrow at 08:55 today. Rider had brown jacket. Anyone we know here? ;)

Just came across this, seems to work but a bit time consuming and I'd probably blow the garage up! Static build up in a plastic container is a bit worrying.

Esso Supreme 99 RON now up to £1.43.9 per litre since that last posting. Why?
